Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Effective date: May 4, 2026

1. Introduction

D&J Yardworks is a locally owned and operated lawn care and property maintenance company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in business since 2005. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information you share with us — through the contact and estimate forms on djyardworks.net, when you call or email us, and during the course of providing service at your property.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us through forms

When you send a quick message through the contact form on our home page, you provide your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and any message you choose to include. When you request a free estimate through the form on our estimate page, you provide all of the above plus your service address, your property type, the services you're interested in, your preferred way to be contacted, how you heard about us, and any project details you'd like to share. If you call or email us directly, you give us the same kinds of information through that conversation instead.

Information collected automatically

Our forms are processed by a third-party form-processing service. When you submit a form, that service records basic technical information — your IP address, your browser and device type, and a timestamp — for spam prevention and security. We do not currently use any web analytics on this site. If we add a privacy-respecting analytics tool in the future, we will update this policy.

Information shared during service

Once we begin working with you, we may collect details related to the work itself: gate codes, special instructions about your property, billing information we use to issue invoices, and any notes that help us serve you better.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • Respond to estimate requests and answer your questions.
  • Schedule service and dispatch our crew to your property.
  • Send service-related communications, such as rescheduling notices, weather-related updates, and invoices.
  • Keep records of the work we've performed for you.
  • Meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations under Canadian law.

We do not use your information to send marketing emails without your consent.

4. How we share your information

We don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We share it only when we have to, and only with:

  • Our form-processing service, which receives the contents of forms you submit so we can read them.
  • Service partners, when a job calls for a specialist (for example, a tree-stump grinder for work we don't do in-house) — and only with what they need to do the work.
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies, when we are legally required to.

5. How long we keep your information

  • Active customers: as long as the working relationship continues, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us.
  • Estimate requests that don't lead to work: we keep them for a short follow-up window, then delete them.
  • Tax-relevant records (invoices, payment records): we keep these for the period required by Canadian tax and accounting law, even after the customer relationship ends.

6. Your rights under PIPEDA

The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is the federal Canadian law that governs how private-sector businesses handle personal information. Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it.
  • Withdraw your consent for us to keep using it.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@djyardworks.net or call (204) 227-1322.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

This website itself does not set tracking cookies. Our form-processing service may set short-lived cookies when you submit a form, used for spam prevention and session security. We do not run advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or third-party analytics. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this section.

8. Children's privacy

Our services are intended for adult homeowners and property managers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Our website is served over HTTPS, customer records are kept under access controls, and only people who need to see your information in order to do their job have access to it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet will never be intercepted.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect new tools we adopt or changes in the law. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will note it on this page.
