Driveway Snow Clearing
Full residential driveways cleared after each significant snowfall. We come once accumulation passes 2 cm and the snow has stopped — no half-jobs that get buried before lunch.
Driveway, walkway, and rooftop snow clearing for Winnipeg homes — November through March, with proactive email updates before every storm.
D&J’s snow removal service runs from November 1 through March 31 for residential properties across Winnipeg. We clear driveways, walkways, and — in heavier winters — rooftops, all on a consistent schedule that doesn’t skip storms or miss days.
Service kicks in once accumulation passes 2 cm and the snow has stopped falling, so you’re not paying for half-jobs that get buried an hour later. Before every major snowfall, our existing customers get a proactive email letting them know we’ve seen the forecast and have them on the route — that’s the piece reviewers mention most, and the piece we put the most effort into.
Five offerings under one seasonal contract — each piece of the job, named clearly so you know what’s covered.

Front walks, side paths, and the route from your driveway to the door — cleared at the same visit as the driveway so you can step out safely without waiting for a second crew.
Offered in heavy-snow winters, when load on the roof gets serious. We clear residential roofs to prevent ice dams from prying up shingles and to relieve structural strain before it becomes a repair bill.
The full residential package — driveway, walks, and stairs — bundled into one consistent visit. Built for homeowners who want a single crew handling the whole property all winter.
A flat-rate contract for the full November 1 to March 31 window — no per-storm guesswork. Capacity is limited each season; existing yard-care clients get first call on next year’s waitlist.
Questions Winnipeg homeowners ask about D&J’s winter service.
Our seasonal contract runs from November 1 through March 31. We’re on standby from November 1 onward, and the first visit happens with the first significant snowfall of the year — usually somewhere in early-to-mid November in Winnipeg, but it varies year to year. Existing customers get an email confirming the route is active before the first storm rolls through, so nobody is left wondering whether we’re coming.
Two conditions, both have to be met. Accumulation has to pass 2 cm, and the snow has to have stopped falling. Coming out mid-storm just means clearing the same driveway twice, so we wait until the system is done and then run the route start to finish. For larger storms, that timing decision and the email update goes out the night before so you know roughly when to expect us.
Honestly — usually no. Our snow routes are fixed at the start of each season because winter timing is tight and adding stops mid-route throws off everyone else on the list. The few openings that come up mid-season tend to go to existing D&J yard-care clients moving into year-round service. If you’d like to be on the list for next winter, the best move is to reach out in late summer or early fall and we’ll add you to the next-season waitlist.
Our seasonal contract is built around snow clearing — driveways, walks, and rooftops in heavy years. Ice control specifics (salting, traction grit, walkway de-icing) vary by property and aren’t a default part of every contract. If ice management matters for your property, mention it on the estimate request and we’ll talk through what we can include and what falls outside the scope. [Pending Dave’s confirmation on standard ice-control inclusion.]
For the bigger systems, the email update goes out before the storm with our planned timing — usually the morning after, once the snow has stopped falling and the accumulation is past the 2 cm trigger. Winnipeg winters are unpredictable, so the email is the most reliable answer to “when” on any given storm. What we won’t do is leave existing customers guessing — the proactive comms before and during a storm is the piece our long-time customers point to most often.
Capacity is limited and routes fill before the first snowfall. Tell us your address and we’ll add you to the waitlist for the next available season — no pressure, no obligation, just an honest queue.
